Amphibians can be countless of different things. Most people think of frogs when they hear the word amphibians. However, salamanders, toads, etc, are also considered amphibians. There are numerous of amphibians in the Everglades mostly because frogs and toads like to inhabit the marshy areas. One of the amphibians in the everglades is the Flatwoods Salamander. The scientific name for the animal is Ambystoma cingulatum. The Flatwoods salamander is an endangered spices. It has a mucus membrane, and it uses its four legs to move about from place to place. They crawl unlike frogs and toads. The salamander is well-known for its amazing striped design on its body.

One of the many reptiles one can possibly see in the park is the Florida Sand Skink. Sure there are crocodiles, snakes, and alligators but there are also relatively small reptiles that also need recognition. The Florida Sand Skink (Neoseps reynoldsi) is an endangered species. Not only this but it is also a native species. They have thousands of muscles to work their way through to move. They do have feet, but they do not use them to move.

Their beaks, two hind legs, and feathers are what categorize them as aves. They usually live around the coast of Florida.

Everglades Mink
There are many "famous" carnivores that are known to roam around the Everglades. An example would be the Florida Panther. However, the carnivore that we will be sharing about is the Everglades Mink. The animal's scientific name is
Mustela vison evergladensis. As a carnivore, they only eat meat. The mammal has a very special ability. Skunks are known for their gnarly spray that protect them from predators. Minks do not have the special spray that the latter has. On the other hand, the Everglades Mink can secrete a fluid from their body. The fluid is somewhat similar to that of skunk spray.

The muskrats also like to inhabit land where there are marshes. Making the Everglades a perfect home for them.

The teeth are shaped that way for a specific reason. Their pearly whites were specifically shaped so that they could gnaw on material.
